Five bridges of McHenry County in Illinois have been monitored by Resensys monitoring system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Problems:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Erosion of soil surrounding the bridge foundation (piers and abutments)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Fast-moving water around the bridge removes sediment from around the bridge foundation, leaving behind scour holes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Changes in pier orientation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>How to address the problem: <\/strong>Resensys <a href=\"https:\/\/resensys.com\/r20\/wireless-products-senspot\/critical-component-condition-monitoring-instrumentation.html\">wireless monitoring systems<\/a> have been deployed in a bunch of bridges in McHenry County, Illinois and based on the monitoring needs of each bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/resensys.com\/r20\/wireless-products-senspot\/wireless-sonar.html\">Wireless sonar water depth meter<\/a>: strategically placed at specified piers for collecting underwater data (depth, temperature, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/resensys.com\/r20\/wireless-products-senspot\/surface-water-level-ultrasonic-sediment-flood-meter.html\">Wireless level sensor<\/a>: detects flood<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Wireless camera: provide visual feedback<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/resensys.com\/r20\/wireless-products-senspot\/structural-movement-tilt-deformation-damage-detection.html\">Wireless tilt meters<\/a>: monitoring stability of piers, abutments, detects settling<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Results:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Detecting over inclination of piers (with the resolution 0.00016 degrees) as an early result and indication of hydraulic damage to prevent road\/bridge closure and\/or expensive repairs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Monitoring water level constantly to notify authority about possibility of flood.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Reliable quantitative measurement of scour around underwater portions of bridges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Detecting erosion around piers at early stages enables authorities to repair the bridge sooner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Providing complete condition awareness of bridges, and particularly help to allow quick assessment of conditions after severe floods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a
